The Kibouti* Footrest was designed with two criteria:

Unlike other footrests, the Kibouti* is compact in size and very light. This allows it to fit under any desk and is easily portable. This footrest can go where you go, not forcing you to be where the footrest is.
The Kibouti's unique design enables you to have a greater variety of seating positions. With the footrest placed under your desk it is possible to raise your knees higher than your hips, this helps promote proper circulation and relieves strain on the lower back.
It is possible to raise both knees at the same time or one knee at a time, this helps exercise the small muscles and joints in the lower back while sitting at the desk. This optional mobility helps with concentration, adjusting your sitting position when one position no longer suits your work intensity.

At the end of the day, or anytime actually, when you are a little sluggish or your feet are tired and swollen you can flip the footrest over for a great foot message.

Resting one foot on the Kibouti* Footrest while working at the kitchen counter, in the workshop, or while ironing helps to prevent back fatigue and undue stress. With your foot resting on a Kibouti* Footrest your spine is placed in the pelvic tilt position to help relax your back. The footrest can be used while sitting for long periods of time, for example watching TV or working at a computer, to increase your seating comfort.

If you have a standing workstation the Kibouti can help there as well. Standing too long also has its drawbacks and it is recommended that a footrest be part of this type of workplace set up.
