AFRICA
Is one of
the brightest spots on the world's economic horizon. Long gone are the
days of the undiscovered continent. Today very little of the continent
is unknown. What is still to be discovered is in the ground and on the
ground. Mineral resource projects driven by voracious appetites in the
technology and industrial sectors of Asia have companies seeking and discovering
sources in once extremely remote places such as the Democratic Republic
of Congo, . One of the major influences of this economic boom is the demise
of colonialism and the diminishing influence of warring fractions trying
to control the wealth and opportunities for a small elite class of opportunists.
Also it could be the diminishing tolerance for corruption amongst bureaucrats
and politicians that has opened the door for more patriotic attitudes
and a desire by local and national governments to generate and keep the
latent wealth within the boarders of their countries.
Today it is easy to find major mining companies such as BHP Biliton, Rio
Tinto, Zinjin Mining Group investing billions of dollars throughout the
continent.
